Acer x conspicuum Red Flamingo is a superb new Snake Bark Acer. Essentially this quite stunning Acer provides year round interest. A slow growing, eventually small tree it has deep red young shoots striped with typical snake bark white lines once mature. The leaves emerge mottled with attractive pink variegation in spring. As they mature the leaf variegation turns to a slightly darker pink and white through summer, until autumn, when they turn the most stunning pinky scarlet. A really lovey tree or large shrub, ideal for general planting, patios and gardens where space is limited. Easy to grow in full sun to dappled shade location in most moist, free draining soils. If growing in a pot or other container, use a good quality compost. Ensure you feed regularly as a hungry plant is a poor performer. We recommend Osmoscote pro 8-9 month applied in the early spring. One application gives all the nutrients the plant requires.
