These small Bonsai are easy to look after and are great starters for those thinking about beginning a Bonsia collection, as a lovely and fascinating gift or just as a beautiful, compact plant, with which to "decorate" your house.
These tiny Zelkova are deciduous trees that are native to China and Japan and are a close relative to the English Elm (but can't catch Dutch Elm Disease!). They make excellent Bonsai subjects, easy to grow with the usual care and very resistant to disease. They can be grown inside or outside. They are sold in a square ceramic bowl.
To be at its best your Zelokova needs a well lit location in full sun or semi shade. A window sill or conservatory inside, or a place shaded from hot summer sun outside would be great. Although these trees are usually hardy, as a Bonsai, it is best to bring them in during cold weather. Watering is important and it should be given a good watering when the compost is almost but not quite dry. As a Bonsai subject these Zelkova are very popular, especially with beginnners and can lead to a hobby that is as absorbing as it is satisfying. Caring for your Bonsai is different from many other house plants so with each plant we will included a detailed care leaflet in the document wallet attached to the delivery box.
This plant is in a green, crazed, ceramic bowl. The bowl is approx. 12cm (4.75") wide and the plants are approx. 15cm to 18cm ( 6" to 7") tall excluding the bowl.
