Erysimum are native to much of the northern hemisphere and have been cultivated as a garden plant for well over a hundred years. The cultivar Erysimum Orange Flame has flower power, fragrance and is attractive to butterflies and other insects, it is a must for most gardens. A sub shrub, evergreen in mild areas, it produces a mass of orange, fragrant flowers from April to August. Easy to grow in sun or semi shade, in most alkaline to neutral free draining soils. Can easily be grown in a pot or other container. Use a good quality compost and ensure you feed regularly as a hungry plant is a poor performer. We recommend Osmocote pro 8-9 month applied in the early spring. One application gives all the nutrients the plant requires for the whole year. After a couple of years the plants can become rather leggy so a quick trim back after flowering will set them up for the next season of flowers!
